Privacy Policy — VividOrbit

This policy describes the VividOrbit app. For statistics collected by this website, see the studio website analytics disclosure.

Effective date: August 20, 2026. This policy applies specifically to the VividOrbit application for Android TV and Google TV (Package: com.vorynlabs.vividorbit).

1. Overview

VividOrbit is an open-source, privacy-first Live TV channel management and guide application developed by Voryn Labs. We believe your entertainment habits, channel choices, and viewing data belong strictly to you.

2. Zero Data Collection & Zero Tracking

VividOrbit does NOT collect, store, transmit, or monetize any user data.

  • No Personal Identifiable Information (PII): We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, location, or device identifiers.
  • No Telemetry or Analytics: VividOrbit contains zero analytics SDKs, zero crash trackers, and zero advertising libraries.
  • No External Server Communication: No user data, channel selections, or preferences are ever uploaded to cloud servers.

3. Device Permissions & Purpose

VividOrbit requests only the minimal local permissions needed to function on Android TV:

  • READ_TV_LISTINGS & READ_EPG_DATA: Read installed TV tuner channel lists and Electronic Program Guide (EPG) metadata provided by your local TV tuner hardware.
  • INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Used solely for the optional Phone Setup feature. When activated, the app runs a private, temporary HTTP server on your local home Wi-Fi network (LAN) so you can reorder channels from a phone browser. No data ever leaves your home network.

4. Local Phone Setup Server

When you open Phone Setup, a lightweight web server is temporarily launched on your TV box. The web page is accessible only within your private local Wi-Fi network and is protected by a high-entropy session token. The server immediately shuts down when Phone Setup is closed or when the app is exited.

5. Open Source & Third-Party Components

VividOrbit is built with open-source components from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) under the Apache License 2.0, the Mochitif Leanback Engine, and the ZXing QR library. None of these libraries collect or transmit analytics.

6. Children's Privacy

VividOrbit is not directed to children under 13 and collects zero personal data from any user.
